Who We Are

Gilchrist Construction is a Prince George–based general contracting company built on decades of hands-on experience. Owner, Ian Gilchrist earned his Red Seal in Carpentry straight out of high school and began his career working extensively in residential construction.

Ian’s career started with framing and foundation work with Select Homes, Irwin Homes, and Roland Tharain. Through this, Ian developed experience across a range of residential and commercial projects.

In 1992, Ian started Gilchrist Construction, taking on a wide variety of tenant improvement projects. Over time, the company naturally came full circle back to new home construction in the Prince George area. As residential projects grew in scope, it made sense to bring earthworks and site preparation in-house, allowing for better control over quality and overall project flow.

Today, Gilchrist Construction operates as a true one-stop-shop general contractor, completing approximately 90% of each project in-house. This approach reduces reliance on outside contractors, improves efficiency, and ensures a consistent standard of workmanship from start to finish.

Led by owner Ian Gilchrist, a Red Seal Master Carpenter, the company is built on hands-on experience and practical construction knowledge. With experience spanning framing, foundations, renovations, tenant improvements, and full home construction, Gilchrist Construction brings expert knowledge and accountability to every project.
